About NOVA AISB

NOVA AISB builds on the foundation of AISB-Hope International, a Beijing-based international school known for its small community feel, American curriculum and student-centered approach. Following its acquisition by Beijing Nova Academy, the school is now transitioning into NOVA AISB, bringing together AISB’s established international school environment with Nova Academy’s academic planning and university preparation strengths.

The school provides education from Kindergarten through Grade 12, with a curriculum designed to support students academically, socially and personally. Its smaller school environment allows teachers to build close relationships with students and provide more individualized support in the classroom.

Curriculum and learning

NOVA AISB follows an American curriculum pathway, with secondary courses aligned with modified American-based standards. English and Mathematics are based on Common Core standards, while Science follows Next Generation Science Standards. At high school level, students may access Advanced Placement courses, supporting those preparing for universities in the United States and other international destinations.

The school places importance on academic rigor, critical thinking, communication and character development. In addition to core academic subjects, students also take part in world languages, arts, physical education, technology and extracurricular activities.

Teaching environment

Teachers at NOVA AISB work in a smaller, community-based environment where student relationships, parent communication and whole-child development are important parts of school life. The school may be especially suitable for teachers who enjoy being involved beyond the classroom, including homeroom support, student activities, assemblies, clubs and school events.

Because the school is currently going through a transition under Beijing Nova Academy, it may also appeal to teachers who are flexible, collaborative and interested in helping shape the next stage of a school’s development.

Campus and facilities

The campus includes classrooms, science laboratories, libraries, art and music spaces, a computer lab, indoor and outdoor sports areas, student lounges and community spaces. These facilities support academic learning, student activities, athletics, arts and wider school life.

Living in Beijing

Beijing is one of China’s major international education hubs, offering strong professional opportunities for teachers and a wide range of lifestyle options. NOVA AISB’s location in Chaoyang District gives teachers better access to the city’s social and cultural life, with convenient options for dining, fitness, shopping, transport and international communities.

For teachers who want a balance between school life and city life, NOVA AISB’s location can be a real advantage. It offers a less isolated feel than some schools based further out on the outskirts, where daily travel and social life can sometimes be more challenging.

Teaching at NOVA AISB

NOVA AISB may be a good fit for teachers with experience in American curriculum, AP courses, elementary homeroom teaching, secondary subject teaching, English language support, counseling or student support. It may especially appeal to educators who value smaller school communities, closer student relationships and a more central Beijing lifestyle. Teachers who enjoy growth, transition and being part of school development may find NOVA AISB an interesting opportunity as the school moves into its next stage under Beijing Nova Academy.
